Family.
I am finally at the Preston MTC. Its been such a fun adventure coming here. I guess I was supposed to be at the Provo MTC, but the day I got there they gave me my passport and visa and told me that i would leave the next day at six. While I was at the MTC in Provo, I was able to see Elder Stapely at dinner and the i saw Elder Freyre in one of my classes. I had the best time, but the next day i left for England. There were a bunch of other missionaries leaving for the field while myself, Elder Simmons and Elder Jean were scheduled for Preston. When we got to the airport, we checked all of our things in and our stop was in Georgia. When we landed we met up with a group of missionaries going to Preston. There were about 17 of us. It was amazing. The plane rides were rough, but i was able to talk to nonmembers along the way. I was still a little nervous to share the gospel, but i tried helping them understand the things that we as missionaries do. When we finally got into England, we had to get our visa checked, and that took maybe two hours, but it was fun because all of the missionaries go to know each other. When we passed security, we got all of our bags and went to find our ride. The best time I had at the airport was when we were all going to our bus. There was a long line of young men and one sister, in church attire, walking out of the building. People looked at us funny, but many smiled. One person even said, "those have to be the Americans."
The MTC in Preston has been amazing. The first elder that was MTC companion is the same one i have now in Preston. His name is Elder Jean. we are still getting used to each other, and the missionary life and everything that is going on, our relationship is sometimes off. Even though it was off at first we have been growing stronger as days have gone by. The MTC is a different place. I have felt the spirit everyday. Whether I was in my residence room, or outside, the spirit is so strong. Although i have been in the MTC for a couple of days, I know that I have grown in leaps and bounds. All the teachers and leaders are very helpful and loving. The days have gone by so fast. Elder Jean and I also had the opportunity to simulate a real situation with a member who portrayed an investigator. We were afraid at first of what to say, because we had to be in there for 20 minutes, but luckily we relied on the spirit and the lesson was amazing. The spirit is essential in the mission field. Without the spirit we cannot be productive and powerful. All we do is teach, the spirit converts. I dont have much time but today we went to the Preston temple and it was beautiful. There were different gardens everywhere. England is a green country and the people are great! On Friday we will be proselyting, and I am so excited. I know that I am here to do my Heavenly Fathers work, and I am grateful that i have the opportunity to serve him. The gospel is true and I love it. I love all of you, and I know that our Heavenly Father will take care of you while I am away. Ill write letters later today. Take care.
Love,
Elder Resolme
PS the food is pretty good.
He mentioned Elder Freyre & Elder Stapely. They are friends from back home that are training for their missions too. Elder F is going to West Virginia & Elder S is going to Mexico. Jared's missionary e-mail is jared.resolme@myldsmail.com. Please note that he can't e-mail you back directly (only immediate family), so it may take him a while to write you back via airmail. Send him letters! I know that's the one thing that he'll definitely keep on looking forward to each week.
